Abu Yousuf has been working with ILO since 2017 in several capacities. He is currently leading the Better Work Programme in Uzbekistan. Before joining to the current position, Yousuf successfully managed Better Work operations in Bangladesh. He played an instrumental role in developing the Better Work Bangladesh Strategy 2022-2027 with strong focus on advancing decent work through multi-sectoral collaboration; elevating Better Work’s enterprise-level results to the institutional and sectoral level; and establishing stronger alignment with ILO to strengthen the labour market governance.
In his previous role at GIZ in Bangladesh, Yousuf successfully led the implementation of a global initiative on private sector adaptation to climate change. Throughout his professional career, he has utilised his diverse expertise in the area of SME promotion, skills development for the public and private sector, stakeholders management, resource mobilization and programme implementation. Yousuf holds a postgraduate degree in Global Management from the University of Applied Science, Bremen, Germany.
