Sophal joined BFC in 2004 to head the Monitoring Unit, a position he held for six years before becoming the National Coordinator for the ILO’s Millennium Development Goals project. His career, grounded in a commitment to help the Cambodian people, has steered him to work at organizations including the Human Rights Component for the United Nations Mission in Eritrea and Ethiopia (UNMEE), the Cambodia Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), Human Rights Watch/Asia, the UN Office of the Secretary-General’s Personal Representative in Cambodia, and Licadho. He holds a Master of Law Degree (LLM) from Pannasastra University of Cambodia, where he is also a Doctor of Laws student.
